A Year of Accomplishments

As President of the Club for the past two year term, it has been a pleasure to work with Members. As the seasons change so do our Officers. We will install four new Officers to serve in 2018-19 at our Annual Holiday Social. I am so grateful for the opportunity leading this group has afforded me... Together we have accomplished so much!

It is fun to reflect back on the past two years. Our VOICe serenity garden is beautiful and so well cared for by our volunteer Members. We enjoyed seeing 500 pink tulips bloom at the entrance to UPMC Cranberry Passavant Hospital in April. We had fun planting them the previous October to show our support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. We also enjoyed so many wonderful programs and speakers that not only entertained but educated us. We took many field trips together and had the most successful Annual Garden Tour in July. A beautiful Victorian home and garden was the site of our Summer Social. A rainy day saw many Members planting trees, shrubs and perennials at our Habitat for Humanity home in Slippery Rock. All in all, it was a fabulous year indeed!

Our biggest accomplishment was the installation of a Blue Star Memorial Marker at the Abie Abraham VA Butler Healthcare facility in Butler, PA. This program was a joint venture with the Butler Garden Club, to honor our Veterans of the past, present and future. It is an honor to be recognized by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. for our participation in this patriotic project.

I look forward to working with all of our new Officers and Members as we plan and execute our exciting new project, the Community Garden at Graham Park in Cranberry Twp. In the fall we planted over 300 pink daffodils to kick off this 2018 Project of the Year in cooperation with the CTCC and Cranberry Twp. In this garden we will continue to enjoy our friendship through flowers and grow within our community.
