Time to Spring Forward

When we hold our first meeting of the year on March 27th, spring will have officially arrived. Hopefully the weather has presented you with opportunities to start cleaning up your garden after the long winters rest. Please join us as we learn from Richard States "Tips for improving your garden photography". Richard is a Horticulturalist, retired Educator and published Author of an educational slide series for the Ohio State University. He has won numerous photography awards, including all three of the Judge's Choice Awards presented by the Men's Garden Club of America.

Our second meeting will be on April 24th and the program "Hydrangeas demystified" will be presented by Dennis James of DJ's Nursery. DJ is a Master Gardener from Mercer County and a member of the Rock Garden, Daffodil, Hosta, Daylily and Iris Societies of Pittsburgh.

We are looking forward to all of the exciting and informative programs our Program Committee has procured for our Club in the coming year. As well as the long awaited bloom of our National Garden Club initiative project "Plant it Pink - Planet Pink" projects at the UPMC Passavant Hospital and the Community Garden at Graham Park, both in Cranberry Township. Hundreds of pink daffodils and tulips will be on display.

There is nothing like the first warm days of spring when the gardener stops wondering if it's too soon to plant the dahlias and starts wondering if it's too late. -Henry Mitchell
