Spring is when life's alive...

Spring is a time of celebrating all things new. Our friends from around the world celebrate in so many different ways. In Switzerland, a snowman is burned at the stake as soon as flowers begin to emerge. The Netherlands welcome spring with parades having floats made entirely of tulips, narcissus and daffodils. The Japanese have picnics under the cherry trees while admiring the blossoms. Here in Western Pennsylvania, we are more than happy to see warmer weather, longer stretches of daylight and buds on the trees and shrubs. Spring has arrived!

Southern Butler County Garden Club is anticipating the upcoming bloom of the 500 pink tulips, daffodils and hyacinths we planted last October at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Cranberry Twp. This was a project we took pride in to show our support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. This year we will plant again at the site and add another planting bed in Southern Butler County. This is just one example of the commitment we share in our community. Each spring, we renew our friendships within our club and work together to make a difference in our community. We also have the opportunity to enjoy enlightening speakers, programs, field trips and social gatherings...and our Annual Garden Tour in July!

I'm looking forward to the gardening season ahead and our continued growth as a club, celebrating friendship and flowers together. We always welcome prospective new members and invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.
