Pigeons have been raised by humans since ancient times. They were used as a food source as well as message carriers. Some even earned medals for military service. This program will explore the history and relationship of pigeons and people. Live pigeons will be on hand to observe. They will then be released as they begin their flight back to their homeloft in Butler, PA. Our speaker Ryan Stauffer has been a Naturalist with Audubon for 15 years. His specialties include working with birds of prey, earth sciences and native plants.
