Autumn is a dream

Autumn is a gardener's dream...Warm days and cool evenings create an ideal environment for our trees, plants and shrubs. How lucky are we to be able to take in the glorious colors of the fall landscape! Living in Western Pennsylvania affords us this most wonderful time of the year. This is our reward for a spring and summer of hard work in the garden.

Our hard work has paid off in another way, as the Southern Butler County Garden Club just hosted the GCFP District IX 16th Annual Meeting on September 14th at the Twelve Oaks Mansion in Mars, PA. In attendance were 150 guests from the ten garden clubs represented in our district. It was truly a perfect day from the awesome raffle baskets to the community service display to the program given by Patti Fowler on "Designing for the Seasons: Flowers aren't the only reason". This is our District's only fundraiser and it was so great to see an out pouring of support by everyone. Having the opportunity to talk with GCFP Officers Sharon Brown, Chris Leskosky and Joyce Milberg was wonderful too. It gave us the chance to connect with them and hear about what 's going on in the other districts/ garden clubs across Pennsylvania.

Our September, October & November meetings/ program topics are listed on our website... please consider joining us. I'll be looking forward to meeting you!

"Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature has been saving up all year for the grand finale" -Lauren DeStefano
